Approaching radioactivity content through a WebQuest

Resumo: This work is an experience report on the application of a WebQuest (WQ) involving radioactivity content. The WQ was divided into four tasks for the purpose of discussing the basic chemical concepts of radioactive phenomena; the history of radioactivity; the different applications of the knowledge involved and the use of thermonuclear energy. Second year high school students from a state school in the city of Marau/RS participated in the activities. Data collection included the teacher's logbook and quali-quantitative assessments. The results indicated that the WQ motivated students to seek information more critically and to interact effectively with their peers. In addition, it helped them to acquire important meanings, both in terms of basic knowledge in chemistry and its applications in society.

A WQ foi dividida em quatro tarefas com o propósito de discutir os conceitos químicos básicos dos fenômenos radioativos; a história da radioatividade; as diferentes aplicações dos conhecimentos envolvidos e a utilização da energia termo nuclear. Estudantes do segundo ano do ensino médio de uma escola estadual da cidade de Marau/RS participaram das atividades. A coleta de dados incluiu o diário de bordo do professor e avaliações quali-quantitativas. Os resultados indicaram que a WQ motivou os estudantes a buscarem as informações de modo mais crítico e a interagirem de forma efetiva com seus pares.
