This work is an experience report on the application of a WebQuest (WQ) involving radioactivity content. The WQ was divided into four tasks for the purpose of discussing the basic chemical concepts of radioactive phenomena; the history of radioactivity; the different applications of the knowledge involved and the use of thermonuclear energy. Second year high school students from a state school in the city of Marau/RS participated in the activities. Data collection included the teacher's logbook and quali-quantitative assessments. The results indicated that the WQ motivated students to seek information more critically and to interact effectively with their peers. In addition, it helped them to acquire important meanings, both in terms of basic knowledge in chemistry and its applications in society.
