Analysis of the challenges of teaching and learning English speaking for training technicians in Events at the Federal Institute of Tocantins

Resumo: This article is an excerpt from a master's research carried out in the Postgraduate Program in Professional and Technological Education of the Federal Institute of Tocantins (IFTO), Campus Palmas. Its objective is to analyze and discuss the challenges that involve the teaching and learning process of orality in English in the formation of the technicians in Events in the context of that institution. A bibliographic and documental research was carried out to understand the relationships between industrial ideology and educational policies implemented in Brazil, in particular, public policies aimed at Professional and Technological Education (PTE) and those aimed at teaching languages ??(English). The data was generated through a semi-structured interview with the teacher of the English Language curricular component and a semi-structured questionnaire, with the students of the mentioned course. As for the analytical work of the data, the quantitative and qualitative research model guided its procedures. The results obtained signal the need for reassessment and adequacy of language policies in PTE, that contemplates oral communication in English, so that it can be in line with the real purposes of the training and profile of the mid-level technician in Events.

Seu objetivo é analisar e discutir os desafios que envolvem o processo ensino e aprendizagem da oralidade em Inglês na formação do Técnico de nível médio em Eventos no contexto daquela instituição. Para a concretização do estudo, realizou primeiramente pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, a fim de compreender as relações entre a ideologia industrial e as políticas educacionais implementadas no Brasil. Em especial, as políticas públicas voltadas para a Educação Profissional e Tecnológica (EPT) e aquelas direcionadas ao ensino de línguas (o Inglês). Gerou-se os dados mediante entrevista semiestruturada com o docente do componente curricular Língua Inglesa e questionário semiestruturado, com os discentes do curso mencionado. Quanto ao trabalho analítico dos dados, o modelo de pesquisa quanti-qualitativa orientou seus procedimentos.
