PERMANENCE AND SCHOOL SUCCESS IN PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION: DIFFICULTING FACTORS

Resumo: The article discusses the factors that compromise the permanence and success in the Nursing Program of a federal Technical School of Health. It is a qualitative case study developed through interviews, questionnaires and a focus group, and the data were analyzed based on content analysis, referenced in the categories of Rumberger and Lim (2008). The results highlight the weight of the Institutional factor on the permanence and academic success of students, considering the category School and the subcategories Practices, Structure, Resources and Composition. Such findings stand out the importance of the school investing in intervention programs and projects aimed to the permanence and school success, prioritizing the factors related to it.

Se trata de un estudio de caso, de naturaleza cualitativa, desarrollado por medio de entrevistas, aplicación de cuestionarios y grupos de enfoque, estudiándose los datos a partir del análisis de contenido referenciado en Rumberger y Lim (2008). Los resultados destacan el peso del factor institucional sobre la permanencia y el éxito escolar de los estudiantes. Estas conclusiones resaltan la importancia de que la escuela invierta en programas y proyectos de intervención direccionados a la permanencia y al rendimiento escolar, priorizando los factores relacionados a ellos.O artigo discute os fatores que comprometem a permanência e o êxito no Curso Técnico em Enfermagem de uma Escola Técnica de Saúde federal.
