Institutional self-assessment and its contribution to democratic decision-making

Resumo: This article addresses the issue of institutional self-assessment from the use of reports prepared by an Own Evaluation Committee as a support instrument for democratic decision-making in a private Higher Education Institution, located in the southern region of the state of Minas Gerais (Brazil). The objective of this research was to analyze how the self-assessment reports for the 2015-2016-2017 triennium contributed to the construction of the Institutional Development Plan 2019-2023. This is a literature and document review, with a qualitative approach, of descriptive type. The results obtained demonstrate that the institution's management uses self-assessment reports as an instrument to support democratic decision-making in the construction of the Institutional Development Plan and to carry out academic-administrative actions in accordance with the notes made by the university community in the self-assessment. In the end, it is verified the existence of a democratic management in the institutional self-assessment process carried out by the Private Higher Education Institution.

El objetivo de esta investigación fue analizar cómo los informes de autoevaluación del trienio 2015-2016-2017 contribuyeron a la construcción del Plan de Desarrollo Institucional 2019-2023. Se trata de una revisión bibliográfica y documental, con enfoque cualitativo, de tipo descriptivo. Los resultados obtenidos demuestran que la gestión de la institución utiliza los informes de autoevaluación como instrumento para apoyar la toma democrática de decisiones en la construcción del Plan de Desarrollo Institucional y para llevar a cabo acciones académico-administrativas de acuerdo con los apuntes realizados por la comunidad universitaria en la autoevaluación. Al final, se verifica la existencia de una gestión democrática en el proceso de autoevaluación institucional que realiza la Institución de Educación Superior Privada.Este artigo aborda o tema da autoavaliação institucional a partir do uso dos relatórios elaborados por uma Comissão Própria de Avaliação como instrumento de apoio para as tomadas de decisões democráticas de uma Instituição de Educação Superior privada, localizada na região sul do estado de Minas Gerais. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi analisar como os relatórios de autoavaliação do triênio 2015-2016-2017 contribuíram para a construção do Plano de Desenvolvimento Institucional 2019-2023. Trata-se de uma revisão de literatura e documental, de abordagem qualitativa, do tipo descritiva. Os resultados obtidos demonstram que a gestão da instituição utiliza os relatórios de autoavaliação como instrumento de apoio às tomadas de decisões democráticas na construção do Plano de Desenvolvimento Institucional e para a realização de ações acadêmico-administrativas de acordo com os apontamentos efetuados pela comunidade universitária na autoavaliação.
