Social Work professional activity of social workers: popular education methodology as an intervention strategy

Resumo: | This work raises a discussion concerning the popular education methodology used by social work professionals. It is a result of observations concerning authors related to this area and the challenges that professionals face to work according to the ethical-political project of social service. Our objective was to evaluate how the activities of social work professionals is based on popular education methodologies aimed at the education of individuals critical of their social reality. In the face of current challenges, including reinforcement of capital dominant strategies and the neoliberal perspective of the bourgeois state, the search for alternative interventions according to the working-class struggles emerge as a necessary point of discussion to social work. The analyses presented in the study have, as theoretical framework, the dialectical materialism and were based on investigation of authors such as: Paulo Freire, Faleiros, Barroco and Gramsci. We did a literature review resulting in discussions concerning social work activities, the ethical-political project and popular education. In conclusion, social work professionals can collaborate with the orientation of underprivileged classes to be recognized as social-historical individuals capable of creating a social revolution. |

El manuscrito surge como consecuencia de reflexiones acerca de los estudios de autores del área, relacionados a los desafíos puestos a los profesionales en dirigir su ejercicio profesional de acuerdo con los principios del proyecto ético-político del Servicio Social. El artículo tuvo como objetivo reflexionar de qué forma las actividades desarrolladas por los asistentes sociales, si fundamentadas en metodologías de la educación popular, pueden dirigirse hacia la formación de sujetos críticos acerca de la realidad social. Ante los nuevos desafíos presentados por la actual coyuntura, de intensificación de las estrategias de dominación del capital y del Estado burgués bajo la óptica neoliberal, la búsqueda de alternativas de intervención en consonancia con las luchas de la clase trabajadora se presenta como un punto de discusión necesario a la categoría. Los análisis aquí presentados tienen como matriz teórica el marxismo dialéctico, y fueron construidas a partir de estudios de autores como Paulo Freire, Faleiros, Barroco y Gramsci. La metodología utilizada fue la revisión de literatura, teniendo como resultados discusiones sobre ejercicio profesional, proyecto ético-político y educación popular. El estudio concluye que la intervención del asistente social contiene una dimensión política y educativa, por lo tanto puede colaborar con la organización de las clases subalternas, "orientándolas" para que se reconozcan como sujetos histórico-sociales, capaces de "hacer" revolución.O presente trabalho levanta uma discussão acerca das metodologias das práticas de educação popular no exercício profissional dos assistentes sociais. O manuscrito decorre de reflexões acerca dos estudos de autores da área, relacionados aos desafios postos aos assistentes sociais em direcionarem seu exercício profissional de acordo com os princípios do projeto ético-político do Serviço Social. O artigo teve como objetivo refletir de que forma as atividades desenvolvidas pelos assistentes sociais, se fundamentadas em metodologias da educação popular, podem se direcionar para a formação de sujeitos críticos acerca da realidade social. Diante dos novos desafios apresentados pela atual conjuntura, de intensificação das estratégias de dominação do capital e do Estado burguês sob a ótica neoliberal, a busca por alternativas de intervenção em consonância com as lutas da classe trabalhadora se apresenta como um ponto de discussão necessário à categoria. As análises aqui apresentadas têm como matriz teórica o marxismo dialético, e foram construídas a partir de estudos de autores como Paulo Freire, Faleiros, Barroco e Gramsci. A metodologia utilizada foi a revisão de literatura, tendo como resultados discussões sobre exercício profissional, projeto ético-político e educação popular.
