Resumo: The aim of this paper is to revisit the development of Affirmative Actions in higher education in Brazil, and to trace the changes that have occurred among those eligible for higher education (students who have finished high school) articulating with the changes in the profile of university students over time. The essay concludes that affirmative actions played a fundamental role in the inclusion of a new university profile, but did not deplete its role in the redistribution of educational opportunities.

El ensayo concluye que la acción afirmativa jugó un papel fundamental en la inclusión de un nuevo perfil universitario, pero no agotó su papel en la redistribución de oportunidades educativas.O objetivo deste artigo é revisitar o desenvolvimento das Ações Afirmativas no ensino superior no Brasil e traçar as mudanças ocorridas entre os elegíveis ao ensino superior (estudantes com o ensino médio completo) articulando com as mudanças no perfil dos universitários ao longo do tempo.
