Verticalization in technical and vocational education and training, in Federal Institutes of Education, Science and Technology: between concepts and practices

Resumo: This article addresses the proposal of verticalization of teaching, characteristic of the Federal Institutes of Education, Science and Technology. The objective was to discuss conceptual and practical aspects related to this curricular conception. This is an exploratory study, based on bibliographical sources, carried out within the scope of the elaboration of our master's research. Initially, a history of Brazilian educational policies related to vocational education is discussed. Next, the history related to the emergence of the Federal Institutes is presented, showing that the philosophical-educational foundation present in the IF's proposes to overcome the traditionally cultivated dichotomy between technical training X academic training. Finally, some of the challenges found regarding the issue of verticalization are pointed out, approaching the conceptual view, and bringing reflective insights into the meaning of the proposed verticalization of teaching, showing that this is not restricted to the simple availability of the possibility of attending the various stages training courses, in multiple areas, in a single institution.

El objetivo fue discutir aspectos conceptuales y prácticos relacionados con esta concepción curricular. Se trata de un estudio exploratorio, basado en fuentes bibliográficas, realizado en el ámbito de la elaboración de nuestra investigación de maestría. Inicialmente, se discute una historia de las políticas educativas brasileñas relacionadas con la educación para el trabajo. A continuación, se presenta la historia relacionada con el surgimiento de los Institutos Federales, mostrando que el fundamento filosófico-educativo presente en los IF propone superar la dicotomía tradicionalmente cultivada entre formación técnica X formación académica. Finalmente, se señalan algunos de los desafíos encontrados en torno al tema de la verticalización, acercándose a la mirada conceptual y aportando reflexiones sobre el significado de la verticalización de la enseñanza, mostrando que ésta no se limita a la simple posibilidad de disfrutar de las diversas etapas formativas, en múltiples áreas en una sola institución.O presente artigo aborda a proposta de verticalização do ensino, característica dos Institutos Federais de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia. O objetivo foi discutir aspectos conceituais e práticos relacionados a essa concepção curricular. Trata-se de um estudo exploratório, baseado em fontes bibliográficas, realizado no escopo da elaboração da pesquisa de mestrado da autora. Aborda-se, inicialmente, um histórico das políticas educacionais brasileiras relacionadas à educação profissionalizante. Na sequência, apresenta-se o histórico relacionado ao surgimento dos Institutos Federais, mostrando que o embasamento filosófico-educativo presente nos IFs propõe-se a superar a dicotomia tradicionalmente cultivada entre formação técnica x formação acadêmica.
