Geometric optimization of planar trusses used in metal roofings

Resumo: | In the conception of structural projects, modern professionals seek to reduce cost by minimizing material consumption without compromising efficiency of the system. This work aims at implementing a geometric optimization program to identify the optimum solution of an aluminum truss with the objective of minimizing its weight. It also intends to stress the importance of projecting more rational and sustainable systems, with a good benefit-cost ratio. Results of the study showed the optimization potential regarding the considerable weight reduction obtained. Additional assessments were made to verify the influence of areas, and the elimination of restrictions in the final geometry of the problem. |

Este trabalho visa implementar um programa de otimização geométrica para identificação da solução ótima de uma treliça em alumínio, objetivando minimizar seu peso. E busca ressaltar a importância de projetar sistemas mais racionais, sustentáveis e com boa relação custo-benefício. Os resultados da pesquisa mostraram o potencial da otimização diante da considerável redução de peso obtida.
