Collective guitar teaching processes practiced by Escola de Música D`alva Stella Nogueira Freire during the remote period

Between the years 2020 and 2022, the world was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. A condition that demanded a prolonged period of social isolation and, with that, an interruption of traditional face-to-face teaching formats. Consequently, new modalities had to be developed so that educational institutions could maintain their activities. In this sense, this research aimed to reflect on the processes of collective guitar teaching practiced by the Escola de Música D'alva Stella Nogueira Freire during the remote period. For that, a semi-structured interview was carried out with a professor from the aforementioned institution, responsible for remote collective guitar lessons. The results point to the relevance of certain teaching and learning strategies, such as video recording for the students' previous study; adoption of the masterclass format; adherence to the Google Meet and WhatsApp virtual platforms; as well as offering post-class student support. This work can help guitar teachers, who work both in remote and/or virtual format, in collective classes, as well as can contribute to the very challenging adaptation to this new teaching/learning reality imposed by the pandemic.
