Resumo: This article presents the results of a research that had as objective to make a diagnosis of the teaching of sets from the opinion of students. The information was produced through the application of a form to 110 students, from the second year of high school, in the Marajó Archipelago. The form contained two parts, the first with questions of socioeconomic aspects, questions about habits of study, about the process of teaching learning and evaluation of the subject matter on screen and ten questions on the subject, six relating to concepts and four relating to applications. The analysis of the results indicated that, according to the students consulted, most of their math classes usually follow the sequence: definition, examples, properties and questions to solve; the most common form of deepening is through question lists; the evaluation process is predominated by the application of tests

A produção das informações ocorreu por meio da aplicação de um formulário a 110 estudantes, do segundo ano do ensino médio, do Arquipélago do Marajó. O formulário continha duas partes, a primeira com questões de aspectos socioeconômicos, questões sobre hábitos de estudos, sobre o processo de ensino aprendizagem e avaliação do assunto em tela e dez questões sobre o assunto, sendo seis relativas a conceitos e quatro relativas a aplicações.
