Resumo: This article highlights the quilombola knowledge of Mestre Juca in the manufacture of handicrafts in the community of Chumbo, located in Poconé (MT), with the aim of showing that the black quilombola people resisted, developed, and continue to develop different activities for the survival and continuity of their people, their history, and their culture. In the quest to reach these goals, qualitative research was used, with narrative methodology, by means of open interviews. The results showed that Mestre Juca is a reference of quilombola knowledge present in the community of Chumbo. In face of such denials, it was necessary to create a network of knowledge for Mestre Juca to be known and valued, whose factors make him a reference inside and outside the quilombo.

En la búsqueda de alcanzar estos objetivos, se utilizó una investigación cualitativa, con una metodología narrativa, a través de entrevistas abiertas. Los resultados indicaron que Mestre Juca es un referente del saber quilombola presente en la comunidad chumbo. Ante tales negaciones, fue necesario crear una red de saberes para que se conociera y valorase al Mestre Juca, cuyos factores lo convierten en un referente dentro y fuera del quilombo.Este artigo traz em evidência os saberes quilombolas do Mestre Juca na fabricação de artesanatos na comunidade do Chumbo, situada em Poconé (MT), com o objetivo de mostrar que o povo negro quilombola resistiu, desenvolveu e continua desenvolvendo diferentes atividades para a sobrevivência e continuidade de seu povo, de sua história e de sua cultura. Na busca por alcançar tais objetivos, foi utilizada a pesquisa qualitativa, com metodologia de narrativas, mediante a realização de entrevistas abertas. Os resultados sinalizaram que o Mestre Juca é uma referência de saberes quilombolas presentes na comunidade do Chumbo.
