Resumo: One of the great challenges encountered by educators is to bring a meaning of science to the students' daily lives. Our experience has shown that students are less and less interested in the traditional teaching model and the result is reflected in the low level of learning. Contextualization and technology combined with the execution of projects focused on everyday themes have proved to be good tools to optimize the construction of student learning. The present study aims to study the efficiency of Project-Based Learning in the analysis of physicochemical parameters for the determination of water quality in public secondary schools in the city of Rondonópolis - MT. The work was developed based on bibliographical research, debates, experimental analyzes, elaboration of reports and discussion of the results. Finally, the results were presented to the school community at a municipal science fair. The strategy was efficient, optimizing learning and interaction among students. From this initiative, the students began to perform a periodic monitoring of the water quality consumed in the school, adding social value.
