This article highlights the Master's Research in Teaching of the Graduate Program of the University of Cuiabá in Broad Association with the Federal Institute of Mato Grosso studying the contents of Mathematics published in the Magazine Educação em Mato Grosso that circulated from 1978 to 1986 as an instrument of communication between the State Department of Education and state schools. It aims to understand the process of teaching and learning of Mathematics in primary schools of Mato Grosso through subjects of the magazine with eminently pedagogical character. The methodological approach is based on the historical cultural perspective, based on the authors: Bastos (2002, 2007), Biccas (2008), Catani (1996), Chartier (1990), Chervel (1990), Costa (2018), De Certeau (1982), Julia (2001), Rodrigues; Silva (2018), Santos (2017), Silva (2016). The topics covered by the paper are diverse, from legislation to suggestions for teaching, guides how and when to develop mathematical content, being a vehicle for teacher training.
