Active Methodologies in Teaching Nature Sciences: Meanings and Forms of Application in Teaching Practice

Resumo: Abstract: The objective of this study was to reveal the meanings and ways of using active methodologies by teachers of Natural Sciences in their teaching practices. Qualitative research was carried out in six state high schools with 18 teachers who work in the area, through semi-structured interviews, analyzed with the aid of the IRAMUTEQ software and in the light of the theoretical-methodological framework of Freirian Thought. The reports showed that some teachers attribute meanings of active methodologies articulated to the Freirian perspective, using them at times in their practices, such as the flipped classroom, debates and seminars; however, other teachers are unaware of its meaning and remain using only expository classes in their pedagogical practices. There is a need for encouragement and training of teachers in the use of active methodologies that favor transformative educational practices and the more significant learning in the field of Natural Sciences. Learning.Resumo: Objetivou-se, neste estudo, desvelar os significados e as formas de utilização das metodologias ativas por professores de Ciências da Natureza em suas práticas docentes. Realizou-se uma pesquisa qualitativa, em seis escolas estaduais de ensino médio e com 18 professores que atuam na área, através de entrevistas semiestruturadas, analisadas com auxílio do software IRAMUTEQ e à luz do referencial teórico-metodológico do pensamento freiriano. Os relatos evidenciaram que alguns professores atribuem significados de metodologias ativas articulados à perspectiva freiriana, utilizando-as em alguns momentos nas suas práticas, como a sala invertida, debates e seminários; porém, outros docentes desconhecem seu significado e permanecem utilizando somente aulas expositivas em suas práticas pedagógicas. Vislumbra-se a necessidade de estímulo e capacitação dos professores quanto ao uso de metodologias ativas que favoreçam a prática educativa transformadora e a aprendizagem mais significativa no campo das Ciências da Natureza.
