The History of Mathematics in textbooks from the early years of Elementary School

Resumo: This research is part of a set of studies that aims at the scope of Mathematics Education. The objective of the investigation was to analyze the History of Mathematics approach in textbooks from the early years of Elementary School. We selected three collections of Mathematics textbooks (Vem Voar, Ligamundo and Ápis) from the 1st to the 5th year, approved by the National Book and Didactic Material Program 2019. To analyze and discuss the results, the three poles (Pre-analysis, Material Exploration and Treatment of the results obtained and interpretation) of the content analysis proposed by Bardin (1977) were adopted. The results indicate a little treatment given to the History of Mathematics in the early years of elementary school. Among the contents proposed for the teaching and learning processes of mathematics from the 1st to the 5th year of elementary school, it was found that, in the textbooks analyzed, the emphasis on the History of Mathematics is centered on the discussion on the numbering systems (mayan, roman and egyptian).

Seu objetivo foi analisar a abordagem da História da Matemática em livros didáticos dos anos iniciais do Ensino Fundamental. Adotou-se três coleções de livros didáticos de Matemática (Vem Voar, Ligamundo e Ápis) do 1º ao 5º ano, aprovadas pelo Programa Nacional do Livro e do Material Didático 2019. Para analisar e discutir os resultados, adotou-se os três polos (Pré-análise, Exploração do Material e Tratamento dos resultados obtidos e interpretação) da análise do conteúdo proposta por Bardin (1977). Os resultados sinalizam para um pouco tratamento dado à História da Matemática na referida etapa do ensino.
