Resumo: | In the quest to contribute to the dissemination of didactic resources coming from the history of mathematics, suggestions have been found which aim for the construction of interfaces between history and the teaching of mathematics under a historical view of current history. Thus, this case study aims to present some preliminary aspects of the table of timber measure, displayed in the treatise A Booke Named Tectonicon, written and published for the first time in London, year of 1556, by the Englishman Leonard Digges (1520-1559). Therefore, a qualitative research of documentary nature was held, carrying out a longitudinal study involving translation, the understanding of contextual elements of that time and the mathematical and extra-mathematical knowledge presented in the treatise. The table of timber measure is used in the construction, grading and administration of two of the surveying instruments proposed by Digges (1605). In his construction, it is noticed the embodiment of some concepts that can be used in the teaching of mathematics. Among them, it can be highlighted the mobilization of the concept of fractions and their operations, as well as the simple rule of three and the conversion of units of measure. Thus, it is considered that from the construction of the table of timber measure, it is possible to extract potentially didactic items aimed at the use of historical documents in teaching, focusing mainly on the articulation between history and mathematics teaching. |
