Gender inequality and technology: between women and algorithms

Resumo: The use of algorithms is already ubiquitous in the daily world, enabling the treatment of a large amount of data quickly. Although they may seem impartial, they may incur discrimination against parts of society, and the present research aims to identify how this can occur in relation to women. The approach method used is the deductive, and in the procedure were employed the functionalist and the monographic methods. It was noted that the technology is not neutral and has limitations, which harm especially groups and individuals already marginalized, being able to negatively impact the lives of women.

Aunque puedan parecer imparciales, pueden incurrir en discriminación contra sectores de la sociedad, y la presente investigación tiene como objetivo identificar cómo esto puede ocurrir en relación a las mujeres. El método de enfoque utilizado es el deductivo, y en el procedimiento se empleó los métodos funcionalista y monográfico. Se señaló que la tecnología no es neutral y tiene limitaciones, que especialmente dañan a grupos e individuos ya marginados, pudiendo impactar negativamente la vida de las mujeres.O uso de algoritmos já é onipresente no cotidiano mundial, possibilitando o tratamento de uma quantidade grande de dados de forma veloz. Ainda que possam parecer imparciais, podem incorrer em discriminação contra parcelas da sociedade, e a presente pesquisa objetiva identificar de que forma isso pode ocorrer em relação às mulheres. O método de abordagem usado é o dedutivo, e no procedimento foram empregados os métodos funcionalista e o monográfico.
