Resumo: This article aims to analyze the conceptions about old age from the video It is time to decide: how do you want to age? For research process, we used documentary research as a method. The results of the video analysis show two ways of aging, one autonomous and the other related to diseases. Although, the narrative mentions that it is possible to choose how to age, it is evident that this decision is not always up to the subject, since the living, employment, health and education conditions interfere in this process. It is concluded that it is up to the area of education, as well as for other areas of knowledge, to contribute to the discussion of this topic, in order to unbalance the representations about old age and how to age.

Para el desarrollo de la investigación, utilizamos la búsqueda documental como método. Los resultados del análisis del video muestran dos formas de envejecimiento, una autónoma y otra relacionada a enfermedades. Aunque, la narrativa mencione que es posible escoger cómo envejecer, es evidente que esa decisión no siempre depende del sujeto, sino también que las condiciones de vida, de empleo, de salud y de educación interfieren en ese proceso. Se concluye que depende del área de la educación, así como de otras áreas del conocimiento, contribuir a la discusión de ese tema, con el fin de desequilibrar las representaciones sobre vejez y cómo envejecer.O presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar as concepções sobre velhice a partir do vídeo É tempo de decidir: como você quer envelhecer? Para desenvolvimento da pesquisa, utilizamos como método a pesquisa documental. Os resultados da análise do vídeo evidenciam duas formas de envelhecer, uma autônoma e outra relacionada a doenças. Embora, a narrativa mencione que é possível escolher como envelhecer, evidencia-se que essa decisão nem sempre cabe ao sujeito, uma vez que as condições de vida, de emprego, de saúde e de educação interferem nesse processo.
