Resumo: The article presents data from a documentary research that aimed to carry out a survey and qualitative analysis of actions implemented in the city of Jacareí throughout history, regarding the educational service of disabled students. It was possible to identify that the initial milestone of educational care to students with disabilities occurred in the late 1960s, in consonance with the legislation and political movements that happened in that period. The data also indicate that the actions developed in the municipality, such as the installation of special schools and the emergence of associations, reflect initiatives verified at the state and federal levels.

Se ha podido identificar que el hito inicial de la atención educativa a los estudiantes con discapacidad ocurrió a finales de los años 60, en consonancia con la legislación y los movimientos políticos que se produjeron en ese período. Los datos también señalan que las acciones desarrolladas en el municipio, como la instalación de escuelas especiales y el surgimiento de asociaciones, reflejan iniciativas verificadas a nivel estatal y federal.O artigo apresenta dados de uma pesquisa documental que teve como objetivo realizar o levantamento e análise qualitativa de ações implementadas no município de Jacareí ao longo da história, quanto ao atendimento educacional de alunos com deficiência. Foi possível identificar que o marco inicial do atendimento educacional ao aluno com deficiência ocorreu no final da década de 60, em consonância com a legislação e movimentos políticos ocorridos nesse período.
