Resumo: | This research aimed to identify the episodes, in the history of fashion, in which there was the emergence of fast fashion and the employment of an outsourced workforce consisting of work analogous to slavery. The methodology was based on bibliographic research and on the Moda Livre® application, from which information about audited companies was extracted. It was found that: (I) in the mid-1990s, contemporary slavery began to be questioned within the garment industry; (II) from 1994 to 2014, the denunciations of slave labor linked to fast fashion grew; (III) as of 2019, due to pressure from the consumer market and new legislation, world retailers began to adopt fair trade practices; and, currently, (IV) it is clear that, of 41 companies fined under Moda Livre®, 25 are registered with the Brazilian Textile Retail Association (ABVTEX), which, in turn, conducts audits to verify whether work practices respect the human dignity. |

Instituto Federal Sul-rio-grandense - Câmpus Pelotas2021-12-21info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.ifsul.edu.br/index.php/poliedro/article/view/265210.15536/2594-4398.2021.v5.n5.pp.103-130.2652Revista Poliedro; v. 5 n. 5 (2021): Revista Poliedro — Dossiê Moda: inclusão, inovação e sustentabilidade; 103-1302594-439810.15536/2594-4398.2021.v5.n5reponame:Revista Poliedroinstname:Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia Sul-rio-grandense (IFSUL)instacron:IFSULporhttps://periodicos.ifsul.edu.br/index.php/poliedro/article/view/2652/1940Copyright (c) 2021 Vivian Andreatta Los, Mariana Luísa Schaeffer Brilhante, Valdecir Babinski Júnior, Gabrielly Eduarda Gretter, Gabriela Mueller Alegre Piontkiewicz, Samira Gabrielly Ubinskihttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessLos, Vivian AndreattaBrilhante, Mariana Luísa SchaefferBabinski Júnior, ValdecirGretter, Gabrielly EduardaPiontkiewicz, Gabriela Mueller AlegreUbinski, Samira Gabrielly2021-12-29T04:01:33Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/2652Revistahttp://periodicos.ifsul.edu.br/index.php/poliedroPUBhttp://periodicos.ifsul.edu.br/index.php/poliedro/oairevistapoliedro@gmail.com||2594-43982594-4398opendoar:2021-12-29T04:01:33Revista Poliedro - Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia Sul-rio-grandense (IFSUL)false |
