Resumo: Considering that the teaching of genetics and molecular biology carried out at school is still a traditional teaching method, based on content, almost always far from the reality of students, with different resources and methods not being used for the implementation of the classroom. Thus, it is clear that the construction of didactic teaching models for theoretical and practical classes can be used in genetics teaching to make it more pleasant and expand learning in this area of ??knowledge and performance. Thus, a workshop was held with 3rd year students from the Carolina Silva State School located in the city of Vazante/MG, in order to observe and describe the contribution of this methodology in the teaching-learning process. To this end, didactic models were used in a practical workshop during biology classes, with modeling clay, with which the students represented cells and chromosomes in the stages of mitosis and meiosis. The bibliographic survey included research in book portals and periodicals, including publications related to this research topic in national and international contexts, in addition to participant observation. Observations indicate that the construction of didactic models can be considered an effective tool for the teaching-learning connection, and constitutes a representative process, using the development of a three-dimensional model of genomic structures. These models are accessible resources that can increase understanding of genetics topics and reduce the level of abstraction through tactile learning. With observation, it was realized that the use of didactic models is an important motivational strategy, which enhances the participation of students and teachers in the classroom, which effectively promotes the learning of concepts related to genetics and molecular biology, in addition to promoting socialization during the workshop in understanding the topic.

With observation, it was realized that the use of didactic models is an important motivational strategy, which enhances the participation of students and teachers in the classroom, which effectively promotes the learning of concepts related to genetics and molecular biology, in addition to promoting socialization during the workshop in understanding the topic.
