The ability to lead effectively leads to quality, better performance, productivity, and successful relationships and thus greater profitability for the organization in which the leader operates. Thus, the objective of this paper is to analyze the managerial roles and functions of managers in small and microenterprises. To this end, the development of managerial capacity, the roles and functions of managers, strategic decisions, and other relevant aspects were evaluated. Literature research was used as methodology. Thus, it can be said that it is crucial for micro and small business managers to seek knowledge from sources internal and external to the organization, because knowledge is a source for strategic decision making, development of managerial skills, leadership roles and functions, external support and business planning.
