Resumo: Business consultancy is a fundamental tool in the strategic management of an organization. It offers valuable insights, specialist knowledge and personalized guidance to help companies achieve their strategic objectives and improve their performance. Thus, the general objective of this article was to address the relevance of the consultancy process in the strategic management of small companies, highlighting how this process can help in achieving the objectives established by it. The organizational context reveals a complex interaction between personal and professional factors that directly affect the company's progress. The absence of management tools based on scientific approaches in Small Businesses (EPP) is evident, leading to imbalances and even bankruptcies. Here, the crucial role of strategic planning as a management tool stands out, providing short and long-term guidelines and actions to avoid surprises and anticipate possible challenges. This study seeks to contribute to the discussion about the relevance of business consultancy in the design of strategic planning in small companies. It is essential to explore the difficulties faced by these companies in preparing and implementing strategic planning, investigating whether the main barrier lies in managers' lack of knowledge about its application, often requiring guidance from external professionals.

Assim, o objetivo geral deste artigo foi abordar a relevância do processo de consultoria na gestão estratégica de empresas de pequeno porte, evidenciando como esse processo pode auxiliar na efetivação dos objetivos estabelecidos por ela. O contexto organizacional revela uma interação complexa entre fatores pessoais e profissionais que afetam diretamente o progresso da empresa. A ausência de ferramentas de gerenciamento baseadas em abordagens científicas nas Empresas de Pequeno Porte (EPP) é evidente, levando a desequilíbrios e até falências. Aqui, destaca-se o papel crucial do planejamento estratégico como instrumento de gestão, fornecendo diretrizes e ações de curto e longo prazo para evitar surpresas e antecipar possíveis desafios. Este estudo busca contribuir para a discussão sobre a relevância da consultoria empresarial na concepção do planejamento estratégico em empresas de pequeno porte.
