Ethnic-Racial Diversity as a Moderator for Organizational Competitive Advantage: A Bibliographic Review of Brazilian Literature

Resumo: | The theme of organizational inclusion and diversity emerges as a response to social pressure from various groups. However, organizations have come to perceive diversity as a source of competitive differentiation. The aim of this study is to interpret the relationship between ethnic-racial organizational diversity and competitive advantage. Employing a qualitative approach, this research utilized bibliographic review and literature review as methodological procedures. The results indicate that the reviewed literature indiscriminately attributes competitive advantages arising from other forms of diversity to ethnic-racial diversity. Only one analyzed text identified specific positive factors related to ethnic-racial diversity. In light of these results, we propose criticism for companies neglecting the management of the impact of ethnic-racial diversity and the black underrepresentation in the social framework. This study contributes to outlining the Brazilian scientific framework on the subject and establishing sources of competitive advantage associated with ethnic-racial diversity practices. |

No entanto, organizações têm percebido a diversidade como uma fonte de diferencial competitivo. O objetivo deste trabalho é interpretar a relação entre diversidade étnico-racial organizacional como vantagem competitiva. Adotando uma abordagem qualitativa, esta pesquisa empregou a revisão bibliográfica e a pesquisa bibliográfica como procedimentos metodológicos. Os resultados indicam que a literatura revisada atribui indistintamente vantagens competitivas provenientes de outras formas de diversidade à diversidade étnico-racial. Somente um texto analisado identificou fatores positivos específicos relacionados à diversidade étnico-racial. Diante desses resultados, propomos uma crítica às empresas que negligenciam o gerenciamento do impacto da diversidade étnico-racial e à sub-representação negra no quadro social.
