Resumo: | Introduction: obesity is considered a public health problem, as it is a chronic disease that is increasing considerably, especially among children and adolescents, causing a series of complications and health problems. Objective: to analyze scientific productions on physical activity and obesity in childhood, published in Brazil between January 2018 and December 2019. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review that consists of grouping and synthesizing existing knowledge on the subject. Published evidence-based studies were used that relate physical activity and obesity in childhood, with the purpose of synthesizing results of research already carried out, in addition to pointing out knowledge gaps for conducting new studies. Results: obesity involves several disciplines, such as nutrition, medicine, psychology and physical education. Through Physical Education classes, teachers can collaborate with health education by providing guidance on health care and thus act as partners in preventive-educational programs. It is also up to the teacher and the school to direct and make students aware of the importance of acquiring an active lifestyle and healthy habits, seeking to encourage the practice of physical activities in childhood, in order to reduce sedentary lifestyle and consequently reduce the high rates of obesity. Conclusion: physical activity plays an important role as a factor in the prevention and reduction of excess weight in the treatment of obesity, as associating physical activity and the implementation of interdisciplinary programs will help to improve the quality of life of children and adolescents. |
