Difficulties perceived by boundary spanners in interorganizational relationships: a case study: um estudo de caso

The objective of this research is to identify difficulties present in cooperative relationships, in the perception of boundary spanners, considering different levels of cooperation in interorganizational relationships. To achieve this goal, a descriptive research was chosen, with a qualitative approach that consist of a case study. In this way, semi-structured interviews were applied with boundary spanners from a purchasing organization and four of its main suppliers. The collected data were then submitted to content analysis. The results indicate that the cooperation relations between these organizations show high levels of cooperation, characterized by trust. The boundary spanners do not perceive great difficulties beyond the non-predominance of formalized contracts. The results of this research contribute empirically by providing elements observed in the analyzed relationships so that organizations can better understand these aspects and mitigate difficulties arising from cooperative relationships. And yet, it presents theoretical contributions showing elements present in cooperative relationships that deserve investigations in other environments and more broadly with quantitative studies.
