Mental health of nurses who work in urgent and emergency care

The nurse is one of the members who make up the multidisciplinary team in the health system and has great importance in the performance of the Mobile Emergency Care Services (SAMU), developing health promotion and disease prevention. Objective: To analyze and identify the predictors of mental disorders in nursing professionals who work in urgent and emergency services. Method: This is a bibliographic study, specifically a narrative review, through articles available in the Scielo, VHL and Pubmed databases, from 2015 to 2023, on care aimed at the mental health of emergency nurses and emergency. Allowing us to identify the factors that influence the emergence of mental disorders among professional nurses and their relationship with the work environment. Final considerations: It was possible to understand that nursing professionals are greatly affected by mental disorders, especially in the urgent and emergency fields, which favors the emergence of these diseases, due to it being a place that demands agility, intellectuality and technical-scientific knowledge. It is clear then, the need to implement public policies in order to intervene to reduce these mental disorders, provide material resources necessary for adequate working conditions and promote psychosocial support to these professionals, so that they can continue exercising their profession with dignity and quality.
