Resumo: | This is a theoretical research of philosophical-educational nature, through a bibliographical review which main object is the meaning and role of reading in the process of learning in higher education. Based on the observation that, despite the didactic-pedagogical initiatives that aim the encouragement and qualification of the reading practice at this level of education, its influence on the integral formation of university students remains precarious. Based on empirical diagnoses registered in carried out researches and on theoretical studies on the subject, the paper proposes to reveal that reading, duly understood and practiced in the academic environment, is indispensable mediation for a meaningful formation of university students. Therefore, after a diagnosis of the reading situation in the national university tradition, we will seek to elicit the contribution of it to the university learning, as well as to advance some strategic subsidies for a pedagogy of the reading in higher education, based on the philosophical references concerning the contribution of reading to human formation, particularly those expressed in the thoughts of Freire, Severino and Kleiman. |

A partir de la constataci??n de que, a pesar de las iniciativas did??ctico-pedag??gicas con vistas al incentivo ya la calificaci??n de la pr??ctica de la lectura en ese nivel de ense??anza, sigue precaria su influencia en la formaci??n integral de los estudiantes universitarios. Con base en diagn??sticos emp??ricos, constantes en investigaciones ya realizadas, y en estudios te??ricos sobre la tem??tica, el trabajo propone revelar que la lectura, debidamente entendida y practicada en el ambiente acad??mico, es mediaci??n indispensable para una formaci??n significativa de los estudiantes universitarios. Para ello, tras el diagn??stico de la situaci??n de la lectura en la tradici??n universitaria nacional, se buscar?? explicitar, con base en las referencias filos??ficas sobre la contribuci??n de la lectura a la formaci??n humana, particularmente aquellas expresadas en los pensamientos de Freire, Severino y Kleiman, en el aprendizaje universitario as?? como avanzar algunos subsidios estrat??gicos para una pedagog??a de la lectura en la ense??anza superior.Trata-se de pesquisa te??rica, de cunho filos??fico-educacional, mediante revis??o bibliogr??fica que tem por objeto o sentido e o papel da leitura no processo da aprendizagem no curso superior. Partindo da constata????o de que, apesar das iniciativas did??tico-pedag??gicas com vistas ao incentivo e ?? qualifica????o da pr??tica da leitura nesse n??vel de ensino, continua prec??ria a sua influ??ncia na forma????o integral dos estudantes universit??rios.
