The theme of this article is “The evolution of the Maria da Penha Law and the search for the effectiveness of protective measures”. The following problem was investigated: "Has the Maria da Penha Law been effective with regard to the application of Protective Measures?". The following hypothesis was considered “The referred legislation has been able to be effective, even in the face of some obstacles”. The general objective is "to conclude by the necessity and effectiveness of the Protective Measures listed in the Law in reference, analyzing the difficulties for its application". This work is important for an operator of the Law because the laws need to be effective and achieve the protection to which they are intended; for science, it is relevant, as it addresses practical questions of the Law, making obstacles to its effective application clear; it adds to society by the fact that the study aims to demystify women as responsible for the situation of violence she is a victim of. This is a qualitative theoretical research lasting six months.
