DIETITIANS: WHERE DO THEY WORK? WHAT ARE THEIR WORK CONDITIONS?

Resumo: | The present paper is part of a broader survey of the dietitians' profile in Rio de Janeiro: “Dietitians: who are we? where do we act? how do we act?” lt corresponds to the stage that aims at defining the conditions of dietitians' placing in the labor market and their professional tendencies. Of the 2,617 dietitians living in Rio de Janeiro, registered in the Class Council (CRN-4), 102 were interviewed through a questionaire. The results have shown that 22% do not work in the area of nutrition, while 78% work as dietitians (51.38% in hospitals, 22.4% in private enterprises that render services in the area of nutrition - caterers). The average work-load is 36.8 hours with an average remuneration of 7.5 minimum wages. Such results have proved to be consistente with data collected in recent researches related with professionals in the health area, such as: a growing participation of females - especially younger ones - in the labor force, and a stronger tendency towards their absorption by the private sector. |

Como atuamos?" Corresponde à etapa em que se propõe caracterizar as condições de inserção do nutricionista no mercado de trabalho e as tendências profissionais. Dos 2.617 nutricionistas moradores no Estado do Rio de Janeiro, inscritos no Conselho da classe (CRN-4), foram entrevistados 102, através do uso de um questionário. Os resultados mostraram que 22% não trabalham em Nutrição, 78% atuam como nutricionistas, principalmente em hospitais (51,3%) e em empresas privadas prestadoras de serviços de Nutrição - concessionárias (22,4%). A carga horária média de trabalho é de 36,8 horas, com remuneração média de 7,5 salários mínimos.
