Resumo: This paper analyses the Braziliam polixy of supplementary feeding programmes during the 70’s, after the establishment of the “Instituto Nacional de Alimentação e Nutrição” – INAN (National Institute of Food and Nutrition). This policy was implemented through several nutritional programmes. Some of them were selected to be discussed here because they were typical of the kind of State intervention adopted at that period, such as: food supply, subsidies in the commerce of basic food and the provisiono f meals for workers through agréments with the companies.
