Resumo: The purpose of this study is to discuss information and art analyzing, through the representation of information, the role ofInformation Science. It is a discussion about the representation of information of Contemporary Art through the collaborativework among professionals. Information Science can contribute to the treatment and organization of information since it addressesthe representation of information in different contexts and materials, reducing the complexity of these objects based on thepossibility of abstraction and fruition. It includes a critical reflection based on artists’ books that are part of the Paraiba’s Centerfor Contemporary Art Collection. It was found that there is a tendency to homogenize the treatment of information of artworksthrough descriptive representation.

Trata-se deuma discussão sobre a representação da informação de obras de Arte Contemporânea, através do trabalho colaborativo entreprofissionais. A Ciência da Informação por pensar sobre a representação da informação em diferentes contextos e suportes poderiaauxiliar no tratamento e organização das informações, amenizando a complexidade desses objetos a partir de suas possibilidadesde abstração e fruição.
