SEXUALITY, HUMAN PATHS AND DIVERSITY

Resumo: The theme of sexuality, wide-ranging and mysterious in the ecclesial scenario, has been treated from pre-scientific and pre-psychological contexts, before the Second Vatican Council, in a very cautious way. There is, around the issue, a certain silence strongly marked by taboo. In contemporary times, the subject is not treated very differently. Despite this, in scientific and theological areas, there is more openness to debate. Initially, the pre-conciliar approach to sexuality, as an important element in the construction of Catholic sexual morality, comes, in the first place, from the interpretations that the Catholic Church made of the Sacred Scriptures. Secondly, from the Catholic Tradition that, gradually, dedicated itself to elaborating an official magisterial teaching regulating human sexuality, in terms of behavioral norms. Therefore, from the perspective of the Pontifical Catholic Magisterium, it was possible to establish what is correct (natural) and what is deviant (against nature) in the field of sexuality.

Há ao redor da questão certo silêncio fortemente marcado pelo tabu. Na contemporaneidade a questão não é tratada de forma muito diferente. Apesar disso, em âmbitos científicos e teológicos, percebe-se mais abertura para o debate. Inicialmente, a abordagem pré-conciliar da sexualidade, como elemento importante na construção da moral sexual Católica, advém, em primeiro lugar, das interpretações que a Igreja Católica fez das Sagradas Escrituras. Em segundo lugar, da Tradição Católica que, aos poucos, dedicou-se a elaborar um ensinamento magisterial oficial regulador da sexualidade humana, em termos de normas comportamentais.
