Resumo: The immersion of humanity in the online universe is overwhelming and seems to be inevitable. Adaptation to the digital world has no precedent in the history of technology. In less than 3 decades, the computer intrudes into society's life and takes over. It connects the world in a network and becomes part of the daily lives of millions of people. The information begins to shift from paper to screen, from atom to bit, at an accelerated speed. During the 1960s, the US Department of Defense's Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) funded programmers and electronic engineers to create a system for protecting and controlling the flow of strategic information that survived a Soviet attack. ARPAnet started with four computers. The exchange of information between scientists multiplied and the US government lost control. In 1983, part of ARPAnet was deployed in MILnet, exclusive to the military. The other part was renamed the Internet.

Editora da PUCRS - ediPUCRS2008-04-10info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/revistafamecos/article/view/302210.15448/1980-3729.1998.9.3022Revista FAMECOS; Vol. 5 No. 9 (1998); 167-172Revista FAMECOS; Vol. 5 Núm. 9 (1998); 167-172Revista FAMECOS; v. 5 n. 9 (1998); 167-1721980-37291415-054910.15448/1980-3729.1998.9reponame:Revista FAMECOS: Mídia cultura e tecnologiainstname:Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS)instacron:PUC_RSporhttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/revistafamecos/article/view/3022/2300Larangeira, Álvaroinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2017-05-28T20:33:24Zoai:ojs.revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br:article/3022Revistahttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/revistafamecosPRIhttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/revistafamecos/oai||revistafamecos@gmail.com1980-37291980-3729opendoar:2017-05-28T20:33:24Revista FAMECOS: Mídia cultura e tecnologia - Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS)false
