Resumo: | This text focuses on the exhibition Prenez soin de vous by the French artist Sophie Calle, which is based on the story of a broken love affair via e-mail and on the reaction of 107 women who were invited by the artist to answer in her place. Calle was known for exposing her “personal experiences” to produce a artwork that discusses intimacy and identity through photography, film, installation and performance. By depicting the exposition, one realize that the theme is not either the history of disruption nor the replies to e-mail, but the circuit by circulating affections, discourses and social practices that is mobilized by the artist in order to create her work. The text intends to examine the relational processes which construct the artist’s games with narrative forms. Based on the concepts of mediation and translation developed by Bruno Latour, I will discuss this communicative aspect of the work: the ways it mobilizes and connects different instances of enunciation in a sign network. |
