Critical Literacies for Utopia: A proposal for the development of open and online materials and courses

Resumo: | In this article, we propose an approximation between the concepts of Critical Literacy and Utopia as a theoretical-methodological possibility for pedagogical practices in the context of language education, with an emphasis on materials development and open online courses for the teaching of additional languages. The text is organized as follows: at first, we situate the study in the field of Critical Applied Linguistics, while dealing with some concepts necessary to understand the investigation; secondly, we discuss alternative conceptions of scientific research, evoking the notions of Southern Epistemologies and Narrative Literature Review; lastly, we present the final considerations of the present study. The results demonstrate that it is possible to outline, by way of transgression, a theoretical-methodological proposal that seeks to break with the well-known dichotomy between theory and practice, associating these categories with the development of language teaching committed not only to the problematization of languages and technologies for denouncing a dehumanizing structure, but also for building another possible world. This approach, which we have agreed to designate as Critical Literacy for Utopia, can be used in materials development and open online courses for the teaching of additional languages, for which we are especially interested in this investigation. |

La investigación está organizada de la siguiente forma: en un primer momento, situamos el estudio en el campo de la Lingüística Aplicada Crítica, así como tratamos de algunos conceptos necesarios a la comprensión del trabajo; en un según momento, discutimos concepciones alternativas da investigación científica, con destaque para las nociones de Epistemologías del Sur y de Revisión Narrativa de la Literatura; por fin, presentamos las consideraciones finales del presente estudio. Los resultados demuestran que es posible delinear, por medio de la transgresión, una propuesta teórico-metodológica que busca romper con la conocida dicotomía entre la teoría y la práctica, asociando tales categorías en el desarrollo de una enseñanza de lenguas comprometida no solo con la problematización de lenguajes y tecnologías para la denuncia de una estructura deshumanizante, sino que también para la construcción de un otro mundo posible. Este enfoque, que acordamos designar como Literacidad Crítica para la Utopía, puede ser utilizado en la elaboración de materiales y cursos abiertos y en línea para la enseñanza de lenguas adicionales, por los cuales tenemos especial interés en la presente investigación.Neste artigo, propomos a aproximação entre os conceitos de Letramentos Críticos e Utopia enquanto possibilidade teórico-metodológica para as práticas pedagógicas no âmbito da educação linguística, com ênfase na elaboração de materiais e cursos abertos e on-line para o ensino de línguas adicionais. A pesquisa está organizada da seguinte forma: em um primeiro momento, situamos o estudo no campo da Linguística Aplicada Crítica, bem como tratamos de alguns conceitos necessários à compreensão da investigação; em um segundo momento, discutimos concepções alternativas da pesquisa científica, com destaque para as noções de Epistemologias do Sul e de Revisão Narrativa da Literatura; por fim, apresentamos as considerações finais do presente estudo. Os resultados demonstram que é possível delinear, pela via da transgressão, uma proposta teórico-metodológica que busca romper com a conhecida dicotomia entre a teoria e a prática, associando tais categorias no desenvolvimento de um ensino de línguas comprometido não apenas com a problematização de linguagens e tecnologias para a denúncia de uma estrutura desumanizante, mas também para a construção de um outro mundo possível.
