The achievement of the pronouns nós and a gente in function of subject and in functions of complement and adjunct in city Maceio/AL

This research focuses on the variation nós and a gente in functions of subject, complement and adjunct in the maceioense speech. For this propose, we resort the Variational Sociolinguistics (LABOV, 1972) and we use the software GoldVarb X for statistical analysis of data. According to the obtained results, we verify that, in the subject position, a gente is the preferred variant, being favored in the following contexts, namely, zero morpheme, a gente prefaced by a gente, subject filled, less educated speakers and younger speakers, revealing an ongoing process of change. In complement and adjunct positions, nós is the selected variant, with a gente pronoun being favored in these contexts, namely, verbal core, syntactic function of (oblique) complement, a gente prefaced by a gente in other functions, speakers of the female sex/gender and less educated.
