Digital inclusion and school performance in the context of the pandemic: a comparative analysis between Brazil and Colombia

Resumo: Following analytical clues from sociology, this article analyzes some aspects of the relation between public policy on digital inclusion and school performance. The empirical data that supported the research was acquired in the context of the Pandemic caused by the New Coronavirus. Therefore, questionnaires were applied and in-depth interviews were conducted with teachers and adolescents, all linked to public schools in the state of Paraíba, in Brazil, and in the state of Antioquia, in Colombia. Among the results achieved, the need for strategic government planning with regard to digital inclusion, the importance of face-to-face teaching and the perception of teachers and students of the new digital technologies as subsidiaries of the teaching and learning process stand out.

Los datos empíricos que fundamentan la investigación fueron adquiridos en el contexto de la Pandemia causada por el nuevo coronavirus. Para tanto, fueron aplicados cuestionarios y realizadas entrevistas en profundad con profesores y adolescentes, todos vinculados a escuelas públicas del estado de Paraíba, en Brasil, y del estado de Antioquia, en Colombia. Entre otros resultados alcanzados en la investigación se destacan la necesidad de planeación estratégica gubernamental en lo referente a la inclusión digital, la importancia de la enseñanza presencial y la percepción de profesores y estudiantes de las nuevas tecnologías como subsidiarias del proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje.Seguindo pistas analíticas da Sociologia, este artigo analisa alguns aspectos da relação entre políticas públicas de inclusão digital e desempenho escolar. Os dados empíricos que fundamentaram a presente pesquisa foram adquiridos no contexto da Pandemia, causada pelo novo coronavírus. Para tanto, foram aplicados questionários e realizadas entrevistas em profundidade com professores e adolescentes, todos vinculados às escolas públicas do estado da Paraíba, no Brasil, e do estado de Antioquia, na Colômbia.
