Self-Perceived Emotional Intelligence and Academic Performance in Physical Education of Adolescents at the School of Application of the University of São Paulo, Brazil

Resumo: | In this research we examine the relationship between Self-perceived Emotional Intelligence (SEI) and academic performance on the subject of physical education, taking into account the gender and age of adolescents. The method used a sample of 208 Brazilian students, (50.8% women) between 14 and 18 years old. In relation to academic performance in the physical education subject, the results indicated that there is a relationship with the clarity and repair dimension of the TMMS-24 instrument with sex, while age is related to the attention dimension. With regard to the relationship of the SEI dimension with academic performance on the subject of physical education, the repair dimension is the one that most generates differences between groups with qualifications in Physical Education above or below the average of the students. |

En el método se ha utilizado una muestra de 208 estudiantes brasileños, (50,8% mujeres) de entre 14 y 18 años. En relación con el rendimiento académico en la asignatura de educación física, los resultados indicaron que existe relación con la dimensión claridad y reparación del instrumento TMMS-24 con el sexo mientras que la edad está relacionada con la dimensión atención. En cuanto a la relación de la dimensión del IEA con el rendimiento académico en educación física, la dimensión reparación es la que genera mayores diferenciales entre los grupos con calificación en la educación física por encima o por debajo de la media de la población.Nesta pesquisa examinamos a relação entre a Inteligência Emocional Autopercebida (IEA) e o desempenho acadêmico na disciplina de Educação Física, levando em consideração o gênero e a idade dos adolescentes. O método utilizou uma amostra de 208 estudantes brasileiros, (50,8% mulheres) entre 14 e 18 anos. Em relação ao desempenho acadêmico na disciplina de Educação Física, os resultados indicaram que há relação da dimensão clareza e reparo do instrumento TMMS-24 com o sexo, enquanto a idade está relacionada à dimensão atenção.
