Resumo: The disease caused by the new coronavirus (COVID-19) was identified in December 2019, in China. By an extremely rapid dissemination of one person per person, in January 2020, COVID-19 was declared an international public health emergency, and, in March, it was declared as a pandemic. Health professionals are very likely to contract or transmit this disease, due to their high exposure to the virus. With this concern, the present study makes a bibliographic review to describe the routines and protocols related to the best nursing care practices for patients with a COVID-19. In the critical moment like this, the nurse is the responsible to develop strategies to qualify assistance and, at the same time, promote the safety of professionals who work directly in the patients care with a COVID-19.
