Resumo: This study analyzes the meaning of the work of higher education teachers from public and private institutions. For this purpose, a descriptive research was carried out using a quantitative approach. The results revealed that for the teachers of the public higher education institution, the aspects that define the definition of work are the feeling of belonging, of being part of a group and the contribution towards society. For the teachers of the private higher education institution, conditions such as the feeling of belonging and the performance of activities in a specific place are also highlighted.

Para ello, se realizó una investigación descriptiva con enfoque cuantitativo. Los resultados revelaron que para los docentes de la institución pública de educación superior, los aspectos que definen la definición del trabajo son el sentimiento de pertenencia, de ser parte de un grupo y el aporte a la sociedad. Para los docentes de la institución de educación superior privada, también se destacan condiciones como el sentimiento de pertenencia y la realización de actividades en un lugar específico.Este estudo analisa o sentido do trabalho dos docentes de ensino superior de instituições públicas e privadas. Para tanto, foi realizada uma pesquisa de natureza descritiva com emprego de abordagem quantitativa. Os resultados revelaram que para os docentes da instituição de ensino superior pública os aspectos que configuram a definição de trabalho são o sentimento de pertencimento, de fazer parte de um grupo e a contribuição em relação à sociedade.
