“Out for delivery”: pleasure and suffering in the work of delivery workers for mobile apps

Resumo: This research aimed to investigate the causes of pleasure and suffering of delivery people by delivery apps. This is a qualitative research, carried out through semi-structured interviews with 11 app delivery people. The interview script was inspired by the inventory on work and risks of illness. The results indicate that work provides pleasure and suffering, although situations in which delivery workers expose feelings of suffering stand out. The motivations are survival and the absence of bureaucracy to start the activity. The damage caused by work is related to the emotional cost, lack of motivation, desire to give up, loneliness and body aches.

Se trata de una investigación cualitativa, realizada mediante entrevistas semiestructuradas con 11 entregadores de aplicaciones. El guion de entrevistas estuvo inspirado en el inventario sobre trabajo y riesgos de enfermarse. Los resultados señalan que el trabajo proporciona placer y sufrimiento, aunque sobresalen situaciones en las que los repartidores expresan sentimientos de sufrimiento. Las motivaciones son supervivencia y ausencia de burocracia para iniciar la actividad. Los daños causados por el trabajo están relacionados con el costo emocional, falta de motivación, ganas de renunciar, soledad y dolores corporales.Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo investigar as causas de prazer e sofrimento de entregadores por aplicativos de entrega. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, realizada mediante entrevistas semiestruturadas com 11 entregadores por aplicativos. O roteiro de entrevistas foi inspirado no inventário sobre trabalho e riscos de adoecimento. Os resultados apontam que o trabalho proporciona prazer e sofrimento, embora sobressaiam situações em que os entregadores exponham sentimentos de sofrimentos. As motivações são sobrevivência e ausência de burocracia para iniciar a atividade.
