Resumo: This article intends to offer a presentation an analysis of the article “On the distinction between Peirce’s abduction and Lipton’s Inference to the best explanation”, by Daniel Campos. We present a reconstruction of Campos’ argumentation in favor of the distinction between abduction and inference to the best explanation, highlighting Campos’ interpretation about Peter Lipton’s account of inference to the best explanation. In a counterpoint to Campos, who argues for a partial difference between abduction and inference to the best explanation, in this article we suggest a whole distinction between these forms of reasoning.
