What Does Peirce Mean by Violation of the Laws of Nature by Chance?

Resumo: The present article aims to clarify the concept absolute chance, one of the core issues in Peircean metaphysics, defined as lawlessness or real property of world that violates the laws of nature. Peirce was not clear in his texts as to how chance may, spontaneously, violate a law of nature. To answer this question, we appeal to his philosophical discussion about Hume's miracles, which are defined in a way analogous to absolute chance and to Peirce's realistic understandinf of law and the pluralistic understanding of causality.
