Language disorders in autistic disorder are usually described by significant delays or total absence of development, major impairment at the pragmatic and paralinguistic levels. Such a way of conceiving autism, however, is not unanimous, in the care of children with autism, the clinician of language must be seen as an instance promoting another relationship with the Other. Objective: to make a portrait of what has been done in the field of speech therapy and to produce a critical reading from a bibliographical survey. Methodology: The bibliographic survey was carried out using the following keywords: "speech therapy" "autistic disorder" "Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences" in the Scielo, Bireme and Lilac's databases from 2011 to 2016. Results: 21 articles 11 were found, of these, only 5 detail the intervention strategies and their objectives. Conclusion: Apparently, work in the field of Speech Therapy is strongly affected by a medical conception of disease and understands language as a skill capable of being trained and taught. If there is something different being done, they are not published, and thus the transmission is not done. The voice of these works needs to gain space, because it is in the diversity of positions and perspectives that we can expand our understanding
