Resumo: | The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is a health care environment that promotes high-complexity care for newborns. Actions aimed at respect, individuality and welcoming of the newborn and their family are recommended, seeking to stimulate the bond between parents and baby during their stay in the hospital and after discharge. The current care methods of humanized attention to the newborn are the Kangaroo Method, Psiu Moment, Ofurô and Music Therapy. Objectives: To identify the methods that seek the humanization of nursing care in the NICU; understand how the methods that seek the humanization of nursing care in the NICU are applied. Methodology: Descriptive research with qualitative analysis, carried out with 23 professionals, 6 (six) nurses and 17 (seventeen) nursing technicians from the neonatal ICU of Hospital Santa Lucinda de Sorocaba, through interviews based on guiding questions. The reports obtained were organized and analyzed using Bardin's Content Analysis method and three categories were constructed: "Knowledge and application of methods for the humanization of care in the NICU", "Benefits achieved by the humanization of care in the NICU" and "Difficulties in humanization of care in the NICU”.Results: Regarding the knowledge of the interviewed professionals, 11 humanized methods and actions were identified, the most frequent being the Kangaroo Method, followed by Psiu Moment, Minimum Manipulation, Polvo Do Amor Project, Ofurô, Grouped Care, Uterus, Non-Nutritive Suction, Music Therapy, Colostrotherapy and 25% Glucose Administration. The benefits of both humanized actions that were pointed out are the stability of vital signs, weight gain, better psycho-affective and neurobehavioral response, reduction of infection levels, improvement of breastfeeding, increased sleep, reduced stress, propitiation of better development of the musculoskeletal system and immunization through maternal colostrum. According to the last category identified, the professionals reported that the difficulties in applying the methods occur according to the lack of time due to the complex routine of the nursing team in the NICU, leaving aside the dedication focused on humanized actions. In addition, according to the team of professionals, the lines for making donated octopus are offensive to the NB and there is no purpose for their use, especially for premature babies, failing to show the benefits. Conclusion: The objectives were achieved, as we identified the methods that seek humanization in the nursing care of the institution's NICU and we understand how they are carried out. It was possible to show that the achievements in this unit occur according to the principles stipulated by the team, as they report not having protocols recommended by the institution. The Kangaroo Method obtained the highest frequency of citations during the interviews with the professionals of the nursing team, being the best known and not so frequently applied. On the other hand, Music Therapy, Colostrotherapy and Glucose Administration 25% were the least frequent reports. The Polvo do Amor Project was referred to as not effective by 3 of the 12 professionals who cited it as a humanized action. We can highlight that the Psiu Moment is carried out together with all other humanized actions, since the reduction of noise is essential for the development and maturation of the NB, in addition to avoiding disorders, such as the destabilization of vital signs |
