Resumo: The present study discusses the effectiveness of the decisions handed down by the International Court of Justice regarding the responsibility of the States, as it is a relevant topic nowadays, especially considering the conflict between Russia and Ukraine since the beginning of the year and the economic, political, and social consequences caused by the decision handed down by the Court in the case involving both countries. To explain and analyze the present study, the deductive method was used to examine the decisions handed down by the International Court of Justice and to examine Public International Law doctrine, through bibliographical research. It was verified that the effectiveness of the decisions handed down by the International Court of Justice cannot and should not be analyzed only from the factual fulfillment of its decisions and the application of coercive measures, since there are several social, political, and economic factors responsible for characterizing and guaranteeing this effectiveness.In conclusion, the decisions handed down by the International Court of Justice related to the responsibility of the States are effective

A fim de explicar e estudar o objeto delimitado empregou-se o método dedutivo para o exame das decisões proferidas pela Corte Internacional de Justiça e para o exame da doutrina de Direito Internacional Público, mediante realização de pesquisa bibliográfica.
