This study deals, in the first chapter, with the legal concept and key aspects of diffuse rights, collective rights and homogeneous individual rights, as a way to establish the legal basis for the development of other themes to be treated. Will be done, then, in the second chapter, an overview about the legal and doctrinal concept of environment, tothen classify it in natural environment, artificial environment, cultural environment and labor environment. After that, will be analyzed the principles governing the environment (prevention, precautionary, sustainable development, polluter pays, participation and ubiquity), to then relate a series of rules for protecting the environment under Brazilian law, which,will be concluded,express, in most cases, rights of collective or diffuse nature. In the third chapter will be discussed some non-judicial instruments of protection of the labor environment (SESMT, PPRA, CIPA, Embargo and Prohibition, LTCAT, EAR/PGR) and, in chapter four, will be treated the legal grounds of public civil action, which goal is the protection of diffuse and collective rights in general, them includingthose related to the labor environment. Will be concluded, then, finally,that public civil action is an effective tool available to the society, for the protection of diffuse and collective rights and interests related to the labor environment
