The present monograph refers to parental alienation, explaining the importance of the family to the minor, the family power, the identification criteria, the characteristics of the alienating parent and the consequences for their victims. It intends to elaborate an analysis of the proper proceeding of the Judiciary in cases of parental alienation, especially when involving false reports of sexual abuse, defying a quick and effective action of the Judiciary to preserve the best interest of the child and the adolescent, often with the need to a multidisciplinary work with specialized professionals, due to the difficulty in obtaining evidence. It highlights the importance of shared custody as a preventive measure of parental alienation. It seeks to explore the effects of Law 12.318/10, which provides for Parental Alienation in Brazil, as well as the effectiveness of measures not regulated by this law, such as the criminalization of parental alienation and the use of mediation as an attempt to resolve the conflict
