In a world where climate change threatens the future of society, initiatives to curb its advances are gaining traction. These include actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and generate carbon credits through reforestation, forest conservation and sustainable management (REDD+). In Brazil, due to the significant potential for developing these actions, indigenous lands are receiving increasing attention from companies seeking partnerships to develop REDD+ projects to commercialize carbon credits. However, the country still has no specific regulations on the subject. More importantly, indigenous peoples and their lands have special protection in the Federal Constitution. Given this scenario, this study aims to analyze the compatibility of these projects with the Brazilian legal system, from the perspective of indigenous constitutional law. Furthermore, it seeks to analyze the applicable infra-constitutional legislation to assess the requirements to be observed by such projects
